Walker, crutches, reflectors
The survival of mosquitoes in the midst of falling raindrops is being studied as part of the development of flying robots. Most of the days my disability is like a lightweight festive dress on me, but I recognize the moments when it feels like being a fly on a survival flight through complex conditions – between collision forces that weight more than 30 times of my body – trying to drown me.
The most common form of discrimination faced by people with disabilities is inaccessible environment. ”- If you don’t walk, you can’t go everywhere”. This discriminatory attitude is so pervasive in the Finnish culture that people often take it for granted, even neutral, although it is an indication/(representation?) of medicalizationed values.
Composition of frozen water crystals – the snow – is one of the most difficult setting to move around with mobility aids. We are seeking (for?) a solution to it by looking down at the wheels, although the gaze could be raised upwards. Birds and insects are an underestimated source of inspiration for the disability design. Or, as stated in the insider humor of people with disabilities, we must never even dream of a position above the people without disabilities.
Flying would be an easy and empowering way to go. Flying walker could rise/(lift?) you up above everyday life and give new perspectives. Accidents such as slips or stumbles would decrease among Flying Walker users as the level differences do not cause problems after opening the wings.
